Health and Safety at work Act 1974
This act covers accidents that could possibly occur within a facility and the necessities that make the activities harmless. If there are over a certain total of employees working at the facility, there must be a copy of the health and safety at work Act presented on the building and another copy have to be given to all the employees.
This act became legalised in 1974, this is because before 1974 the working circumstances were a lot more strict. An example of this is when employees had to work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, also the slightest error meant that they will have their pay reduced by a substantial amount or no pay at all. In addition to this, the working environment was not good. All workers were exposed to different severe diseases such as Phossy Jaw. This disease consisted of tooth aches and swelling of the gums. Overtime the jaw bone may get infected as well. This disease normally resulted in brain damage.
